Women's Ministry (CWF)
OUR CWF PURPOSE.
"To provide opportunities for spiritual growth, enrichment,
education and creative ministries to enable women to develop a sense of personal responsibility for
the whole mission of the church of Jesus Christ"
OUR GROUPS.
Our four CWF groups
serve women who may be able to attend at different times. Ages in the four groups range from mid-twenties
to mid-nineties. Our members are professionally employed, retired, homemakers, single, married, widowed,
and divorced - in short, they are representative of the diversity of our church:
- Joy Group meets at 9:30 am on the third Tuesday of each month.
- Ruth Group
meets at 9:30 am on the third Wednesday of each month.
- Mary/Rebecca Group meets at
1:00 pm on the third Wednesday of each month.
- Lydia Group meets at 7:30 pm on the
third Wednesday of each month. Many of our professional women find this a convenient time.
Why don't you call the Church Office, at (909) 686-0646 and chat with Fern about which group may best match your needs and interests.
GENERAL ASSEMBLY. Our four groups come together every
two months in General Assembly. These gatherings include an inspirational program and usually conclude
with a luncheon planned by the hostess group.
We frequently participate in events sponsored by the Pacific Southwest
Region of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
We also carry out numerous service projects such as these of the past year:
- Church World Service (CWS) blankets for disaster victims worldwide
- Thanksgiving dinner for a shelter home
- Bibs, lap robes and gowns for nursing unit patients
- Teddy bears for abused children in hospital care
- Sewing kits for third world women
- May baskets of items for residents of five care facilities
Also, a CWF sponsored quilting group works year-round, using earned money for special projects to benefit the church.
Oscar and Traci Almaraz are Youth Sponsors for grades 7-12.
They meet each Sunday in the Youth Room from 12-2:00 PM.
They have had 2 car washes this Summer and Fall and are collecting
cans for an outing later in the Spring, early Summer to Magic Mountain.
Join them this Sunday.

We encourage children to stay in worship but offer Sunday School during worship for children through grades 6. Claudia Gray and Sherry Nettles teach both classes with the help of Erin Molina, Sandy Bondesen and Jill Graham. Both Sherry and Claudia are in worship and lead the children to their classes after Sharing With Children, 15 minutes into worship. |

Introducing the Class...
The Koinonia Class at First Christian Church meets every Sunday from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. We share concerns and celebrations, have a devotion and prayer, then study and discuss our lesson. And yes, we have coffee and "goodies" to accompany us.
The word koinonia is related to the Greek "koine," meaning "common." The best way to bring the meaning of koinonia into English is to speak of joint participation in something. And that is what the 10-15 of us do every week - with amazing results.
Window to the Classroom...
Follow along with us to see where we've been and where we're going. Each week's lesson contains a Scripture passage and some food for thought. Ready?
